Like Chilling With Children? Itching to improvise? Committed To Community?
If so, then the FACE UP! Music Drop In is for You!
This music drop-in would be an informal setting whereby kids can learn impromptu jamming techniques, discover new instruments or just listen and dance. FACE School students may follow someone else’s beat or lead their own with assistance from more experienced musicians.
McGill students and the YD clients would also be welcome to experiment and enjoy but there would always be a minimum number of experienced musicians keeping the general beat as a stable background for the kids to get creative.
Our programs are designed to combine an appreciation of self, others, nature, and science to give children the tools for self motivated success and resilience! Although this would largely be accomplished through the music drop-in itself (music and dance), we would occasionally add content through brief presentations or games led by FACE UP! volunteers.
For the Fall semester, our sessions will run Wednesdays Afternoons from 3:30-5:30! You do not have to attend every session to be a volunteer.
